Boston.com recently posted an article, Preventing yoga injuries: Avoid these 5 mistakes, by Deborah Kotz. I do not practice yoga, but my mother practices yoga faithfully. The article begins with, “Suddenly yoga is on the outs.” This is news to me. A new yoga-bashing book says that commonly taught yoga poses are inherently risky…and this author evidently had a negative yoga experience.
A yoga instructor at Exhale in Boston reviews five common mistakes that can help with yoga injuries. For the most part I agree with the mistakes and these can apply to most fitness activities. However, practicing yoga everyday doesn’t have to be a negative experience. My mother can do yoga for consecutive days and she has not hurt herself. Yoga is not only about strength building, but it can be used for stress relief (breathing) and simple stretching of your muscles, which isn’t a bad thing to do every day. But these are my own beliefs.
Take a look at the article, let me know what you think!
