Earliest Black Friday Opening with Advertisement

Most of you may have heard the news by now that Macy’s (the first announcement) will open their Black Friday doors at midnight following Thanksgiving for the first time in their operation. This decision weighed heavily on the customers’ requests according to the executive vice president of marketing at Macy’s. More than 800 of their locations will stay open for 23 hours until 11 p.m. on Friday, November 25.  Macy’s has also leaked their Black Friday Ad with numerous specials and knock-out door-busters from jewelry to clothing to home goods. More items will be released to their fans on their Facebook page through November 25. Don’t forget that you can start shopping their Black Friday specials from home on Macys.com too.

Target also announced that it will open its doors midnight following Thanksgiving for the first time and they will begin their Black Friday specials at midnight. They too plan to stay open 23 hours. I don’t know comfortable I would feel about that though considering the mess with the Missoni collaboration and their website crash.

Macy’s Inc. also operates 41 Bloomingdale’s stores which will open at 8 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving, two hours earlier.

Kohl’s released news that they will open at midnight following Thanksgiving as well and remain open for 24 hours. This is the earliest opening in Kohl’s operating history. Online shoppers will be able to shop and save before the opening with the Early Bird specials on Kohls.com.

The major retailers seem to expand their Black Friday hours each year and publicize their Black Friday Ads earlier each year. Retailers are also leaking their Black Friday Ads to deal sites like BlackFriday2011.com. Before we know it people will be shopping at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and eating turkey at 9 pm. on Thanksgiving. The term “Black Friday” will become something of the past and have some adventurous stories we tell our grandchildren.
